Some of the Unique Advantages of Aarcomm’s Concrete Boom Pump Remote Control System

From the Youtube Channel Canadian Concrete Pumper.

Aarcomm’s latest Belly Pack remote control hit the market in 2023 and concrete boom pump operators have been raving about some of the unit’s innovative features. In addition to the unique capabilities of the device itself, the fact that it works seamlessly as a system with the Aarcomm Handheld (line pump remote) has been catching attention and was recently featured in an episode from Canadian Concrete Pumper

When a concrete boom pump moonlights as a line pump

In this particular episode, Scott has used the Aarcomm Belly Pack remote to control his Putzmiester 24Z truck mounted boom pump.  With the position of the boom for this pour and the way it's feeding into the Putzmeister 39Z/RS850 placing-boom setup, the boom itself will not need to move throughout the day.

So, after using the Aarcomm Belly Pack remote to place the boom in the right position, the rest of the job is essentially line pumping.  With the punch of a couple of buttons, Scott is able to quickly and easily switch over to his Aarcomm Handheld from his line pump.  He just hits the ESTOP on the Belly Pack, turns on the Handheld, lets it link, hits the horn pump and now his boom pump is moonlighting as a line pump.   And, as he says, “now I don’t have to lug the boom pump remote around all day.”

“Nice, light, easy peasy.”

With the Aarcomm Handheld, Scott can use a nice, light device for the majority of his day that provides easy access to his RPM, pump forward, and pump reverse functions.  The Aarcomm Handheld remote also has a visual for the volume right on the remote LCD screen. Instead of gauging by how fast the concrete is coming out of the hose, the gauge on the Aarcomm handheld makes that information super clear with a gauge right on the LCD screen.

The right form factor for the job

The easy hand off of control from one Aarcomm wireless device to another enables concrete boom pump operators to use the right form factor for the job at hand.

After the pumping job is done, Scott will switch back to the Belly Pack to move the boom.  For washing out the pump after the completion of a job, he can choose to use the pump on / pump off buttons on the joysticks of the Belly Pack.  Or, he can easily switch back over to the Handheld for washout if that is his preference.
